Sunburst Dragons (Endlers)- NEW COLOR!

I have always been looking for positive contrast in my planted tanks- Endlers make the perfect specimens. So selective breeding created my 'Blue Dragons' and 'Pure purple' I was looking to create something bolder to really stand out with a green background.

I am happy to announce- I finally got that mix of colors! neon blue, orange and yellow tail with black accents. I sold off the first generation of the mutation. What you see in this tank is the males I kept from second generation- and the third generation spawn just starting to get colors. Gotta admit I am very proud with this color and compact size.

Thank you!
My 'black dragons' never really turned out.... I took a video of one of them here. But im curious to see what would happen if he bred with a japanese lyre tail.

I was going to a black edge with spots.... Originally the spots were there- but they faded into blue dots! Quite amazing to watch them grow up. I know its a 'planted tank' forum. But fish can be such a integral part. I feel sad I gave away a ton of the fry- because the adults are really spectacular a few months later.

It wasnt 'exactly' what I was going for.... but we can not really control nature. I need to get a picture of the main stud (he is much older and the colors are crazy bright).... he is so feisty however and has mastered the art of evading.... while my others literally swim into the net: they know its the giant 'food god' and come running like puppies.

That's a pretty neat looking endler! How long did it take you to breed this color?

Thank you!

It was a long journey- I would say 1.5 years or more? I could look back at my books.... but that means I am more than likely underestimating that time frame..... eep.
