40 Breeder Stocking Ideas

Hello all, I am planning on stocking my 40 breeder high tech tank and soon enough. The current inhabitants are two goldfish and 2 bristlenose plecos. I am rehousing the goldfish to a different tank and keeping the bristlenose in there. I have tons of plants in there i.e. TONS. I have probably 50 or so rhizomes of cryptocorynes in there and am trying to create a carpet of c. parva. Planning on adding more demanding plants this time to fill the rest of the tank, Filtration includes AC110 and Fluval G3, so I donít think my filtration is lacking.

Anyways, I am planning on adding 40-50 ember tetras (or something similar) and 24 corydoras(most likely going to be either C. Adolfoi or C. sp. Gold Laser). Is this doable? Not planning on adding anymore fish on top of that.

I fount the aqadvisor calculator and it shows that the above stocking gets me to 102%

Thanks for reading.

Thats a bit crowded for the corydoras species considering with a 36" footprint. I wouldn't do anymore than 15- tops.

Yeah, I agree that 24 of that species would be a bit too crowded. Perhaps if you consider a dwarf variety you could have 24, otherwise Iíd start with say 10 and see if you could get them to spawn.

Cory habrosus might be better choice.

That said if your keeping Cory with most of them you need to keep areas of sandy bottom in around wood and taller plants to give them a area to display their natural behavior. A solid carpet of 3-4” crypt is not what they will like the best.

Nah. It's fine. My 40 breeder has been fine the past year or so with 20 each of ember and reed tetras and something like 50 Corydoras. Just keep up with the water changes.
