Stocking a 20gal

So I haven't even finished cycling my new 10gal, but someone just gave me a 20gal for my next tank!

I knew I wanted a second, larger tank, but haven't really thought a lot about what I would do with it. But as it's a bit quiet waiting for my 10gal to finish its cycle, now my thoughts are turning to what I'd like to do with the next tank.

My 10gal will have a betta, some pygmy cories, and some amano shrimp. Plus an assassin or two to help control the pests snails that tagged along with the plants I picked up from other people's tanks.

I want different fish for the other tank. I love guppies, I also love dwarf honey gouramis. Are they good together? What else would be good?

Would love to see your 20gal communities too!

If you do guppies, I suggest all males so you don't end up with hundreds. No experience with honey gourami, but I've heard they are more laid back than some of the other gourami species (I'd only do 1 in that size tank though if you're adding other fish too).

I keep a pair of cockatoo apistos, a school of ember tetras and a school of corydoras hasbrosus in my 20, along with an amano and a few otocinulus to keep it clean. It's got over a dozen small swords, laliopsis, rotala, and a few other things, so it's pretty densly planted in there.

I am planning to setup my 20 long soon. I am hoping to do carpeting plant in the foreground, a bonsai tree, and if possible some plants in the background. And for the fish, I really want really tiny fish. No idea what I am going to get, but I have to make sure that they are shrimp safe.

I'm following this, because I just set up my new 20 long this weekend! It was an upgrade to a 10 gallon, and currently houses 1 betta, 7 dwarf cories, 3 adult Japanese trapdoors and 6 babies (yep, they bred in the 10 gallon). I'll be adding 8 more cories today to fill out a shoal of 15. They LOVE the new space, and it's so fun to watch them play!

All the plants from the 10 gallon got thrown in the 20 long, but it still looks a little sparse. I'll try to post a pic tonight or tomorrow - maybe the aquascapers on here can give me some inspiration.

Honestly, 20 long is one of my favorite tank dimensions. That, 75 gallons, and 125 gallons. All great dimensions for communities and plants, IMO.
