You most likely have wild caught. It can double the price of many of the fish we buy. With the exception of my discus, I only buy wilds as the genetic lines are ensured to be "true." And, contrary to what many think, wild caught fish are healthier because less risk of genetic abnormalities, bacterial, and viral infection ( which are byproduct of overcrowding in farm raised fish).

180 g. low tech w/ wild South American cichlids, corydoras eques, and African Congo riverine tetras.
60 g. low tech w/ F1 Alenquer pair /Stendker "Tefe" discus and wild Altum Angels
30 g. low tech w/ Wild Tucano tetras
30 g. low-tech African Biotope

It's very worthwhile to belong to an aquarium club. I've picked up some amazing bargains over the years.

Where the hell was Biggles when you needed him last Saturday?

Very cool. Discus Madness is a fantastic store and definitely worth the trip for any reason!

@Discusluv, from what I've found they're not found in the wild, aren't they artificially bred?

Wilds aren't that dark. The blackness is from selective breeding from what I've read... But those should breed pretty true since they're from dark lines if I'm not mistaken

General Remarks
The all black strain (actually the fins are typically brown) is a line bred fish produced in Germany in the mid 1990's from C. schultzi. Some of these fish were sold to breeders in the Czech Republic, where they have been mass produced and subsequently have spread all over the world.
