O+ injection

Hey all,
thought to share this idea. Came up with it by myself, but probably somebody else already thought about that.

To put a DYI Osmocote+ root tab, madden from jelly capsule, as deep as needed/possible into the substrate, I use a 3ml syringe with the tip cut off. The capsule is inserted into the syringe, stick into the gravel, push the piston till the end, and remove the syringe. I found to be the least invasive method
ichy and ichy like this.

Thanks for sharing this. I purchased osmocote today and I am going to use this idea to place it.

Cheater tip on this, if you kept the syringe whole and had the actual needle you could inject tank water in side and use forceps to get it in the substrate. That's what I use to do, well kinda. I poked a hole in the top and used a pipette to fill the capsule with water. You have plenty of time till it gets soft to place it in the soil.

@Tihsho, yep that works too.
i tried various methods, including filling the capsule with water. It is time consuming. If the substrate is not sand, i found hard to push the capsule into gravel, and never sure how far it goes. Sometimes it would escape, and the whole mess breaks loose, with all that O+ balls around.
