Diy fruit fly media

So I bought my niece wingless fruit flies from petco. It was pricey but I took some for myself to raise.

I saw that people have used potato flakes to good affect. They also put in a little vinegar as a mold inhibitor.

So I made my own with bananas, sugar, rice flour, water, vinegar, and spirolina. Zapped it in the microwave and it turned into green banana bread.

What are you favorite ingredients?

Back in college we made use of mashed sweet potato as the primary ingredient. Experiments in fruit fly genetics.

The danios love fruit flies; guppies too. The sweet potato seems like the best medium. I just popped it in the microwave until soft then added half a teaspoon of vinegar and some cinnamon. Mix it up it's ready to go.
