Setting up my Shrimp Tanks.

Setting up some tanks to start some shrimps.
Since I don't have much room, I have to set it up this way.

Built the stand from scratch. I got a couple bed frames from Habitat Store, cut them to size, welded and painted. Should fit 6 - 10 gal tanks long way.

Also got a four footer light fixture for $5 at HS. I cut it out to 36" and it fits perfectly on top of the 3 tanks. Order some LED T8 tubes 6000K.
Did a little wiring and..............lit up.
Here some pics.

Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Awesome job with the repurposed items!

PS what kind of shrimp?

Just wondering if you are at all worried about the back and front (long sides) edges of the tanks aren't supported by the stand, just by 2 sides.

I'm just not sure if the lack of support would cause any twisting at all on the tank seams. Although a couple of my LFS has wooden racks only supporting the left and right edges as well, and they are 20 gallon tanks, and so far no problems with them doing so.
I'd be just a little paranoid and at least use a sheet of plywood across the top of the stand, to sort of help distribute the weight. You could use a razor blade to remove the blue paint if you wanted to change the look.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, you are right about setting those tanks on a flat surface. I do have some plywood somewhere in the garage. For peace of mind, I might as well do it this weekend.

So far I only have few RCS in one of the tanks. Those other tanks are still cycling. I might wait a couple more weeks when the weather is right to order some shrimps in.

Finally, got all 6 tanks set up and put a piece of flat plywood on each rack.

Anybody have any shrimps for sale ?

I think you are fine. The corners on a glass tank take all the weight
