CO2 Considerations

I wanted to get a pressurized CO2 system, but alas, it's too expensive. Maybe one day, but in the meantime, I decided to build a DIY CO2 reactor.

I was wondering, now that my tank is going to have CO2, what are some pitfalls to avoid?

Will the pH change? At what point will the CO2 hurt my shrimp? Is there anything else that can go wrong when adding CO2 to a tank?

No problems with CO2 unless it's too much and will gas out the animals but You won't have to worry with DIY CO2. It'll give you a big burst at first but will lower the output.

Should I only add a little CO2 in the beginning to let the shrimp acclimate?

How big is the tank? You don't have to worry about acclimation.

My tank is 55 gallons. I know that's a bit big for DIY CO2, but I'll compensate by having a large DIY setup, and I think it'll be okay because I think having less than too much CO2, and more than no CO2, is okay.
