Unhappy Powerhead getting clogged!!

My powerhead was putting out water at a very low rate. I moved the bottom around, with out anything on the end, and a lot of gunk came out of it. I had some sponge pad on the end held with a rubber ring. Then put a replacement sponge over it. Thus guess putting a long tube on the end with floss in it will help.

Anybody else have this problem? If so what did you do?

Unfortunately, this is a constant battle for me with planted tanks. I started using pantyhose on the intake and clean it off with my water changes. This has helped a lot.

Without Algae, death of mankind would be inevitable.

I have decided that a diy canister filter will prolong the life of the filter. Now if I could just get someone to give me instructions as where to make the holes in the bucket. Until I do I will put a pantyhose over it. For without circulation BBA grows in my tank. This I am certain of for I have 1 plant that has a little on it now and the circulation was very low.

Thanks for the info.
