Help with DIY PVC overflow

I found these instructions online for a DIY PVC overflow. I constructed mine exactly as per the instructions (except my PVC is 20mm instead of 3/4"), and it works.

However, the flow rate is FAR too low for the 3000LPH (~800GPH) pump I bought.

So my question is, what would anyone recommend I do to increase the flow rate to the sump?
Larger diameter piping, multiple overflows, a different design or all of the above? (or anything I haven't thought of)

Larger diameter piping.

Those who say it can’t be done, shouldn’t interfere with those who are doing it.

x2. Bigger holes or more holes, you get a bigger bang by making the hole bigger. Unless you have a requirement we don't know about, like the 20mm is the largest you can fit through the hood or something.
