CO2- Yeast or pressurized?

I am setting up a new CO2 system on a 46G Bowtank. Trying to decide between DIY yeast system or a pressurized system. Thoughts on why I should go with one or the other?

Everyone will tell you, pressurized is the best way to go. If you do some deal scrounging, you can put together a 10lb. pressurized system for around 200 bucks. Well worth the money if you are trying to grow plants.

for a 46 gallon you would need at least 2 or 3 DIY yeast bottles and its really not worth it. I have a hard enough time changing my one bottle every month on my 20 gallon and its still very unbalanced. If you have the money go pressurized.

The largest tank I've ever done diy co2 on is 29 gallons. I have two 2 liter bottles, and I switch one out every week or two. It works OK, but I'd be leery of trying it on a bigger tank, or if I had more light on this tank.

I remember people talking about using so much sugar and the hassle of fixing the bottles up all the time. I have two pressurized systems for two different tanks and I wouldn't change them for anything. Well worth the investment!!

Sorry to go OT but oldpunk78 or anyone else, how many bubbles per second would one need to release for a 39gal tank?

Price wise, long term and hassle wise, there is just no comparison. Plus you will not have to deal with inconsistent/fluctuating c02 levels or low co2 levels which can create more long term problems for your plants than it is worth. Pressurized wins hands down. Bite the bullet and go pressurized it will more than pay for itself after one year vs DIY which will prove far more expensive over the long haul.

Do yourself a favor and definitaly do pressurized. I have a 46 bowfront and diy was a headach. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they dident. Pressurized is the way to go.
