DIY LED lights for ADA 120P need some Help with Vero build

Hi all

I have have finished from building my ADA 120P like tank now it is the time to build its lights for a high tech system mainly i am targeting the PAR required for HC growth as main plant

well as i knew that the Bridgelux Veros are the best way to go, ( correct me please if i am wrong ) i have allready bought 30x Cree XTE whites and i am welling to sell them for the vero build

My build info :

The Tank is 48' L 18 ' W 18' H

The lights will be about 20' away from the top of the tank that is abut 34' away from the substrate ( and i don't mind to lower it )

I want to use Vero18 for the 5600k 90 CRI leds because there is no 5600k in the vero 10 and 13 there is only 5000k ( i prefer the more cool as possible ) if i am wrong about those correct me

And i want to use the vero 13 for the 3000k 97 CRI

I will use MW LDD drivers the 1A one , at the moment i will not be able to use any dimming until my arduino be ready

What i need help with is how many Veros i need for my build from each color considering i am running each one at 1A

and what Reflector/Lens should i use

At your height to the water surface 60 optics or less is a start (60 degree @20" = 21" circle of coverage..

48/21=2.2 or really 3

So 3 sets of the 2 veros...

All rough estimates.

13 is 1330 lumens @ 500mA.. 16W, 82 lumens/watt

31W 3550 lumens for the 18's driven
@ 1050mA.......

So in general, w 3 sets of Veros.. 14,640 lumens over the tank.
141 Watts.......

http://www.ledil.com/sites/default/f...reflectors.pdf

Not sure what angles are available..50 degree is a bit better w 20" to surface 18" f/b

I suppose 1 every 8" (instead of 3 clusters) would work too..

jeffkrol please can you advice on the next

as long as i will be driving the vero 18 at 1A what if i used vero 13 for both colors and i know that vero 13 has only 5000k 90 cri instead of the vero 18 that is 5600k 90 cri so i will be saving much money and if i want to cool the look what about adding Cree XTE royal blue or UV leds ?

but if did this solution and added those royal blue or the UV will be destroying the look of the tank i will go back for the vero18

Please advice shall i stick with your solution or go to vero 13 for both colors with added color leds to cool the look of the tank

Vero 13's that you can get are 5000K and 3000K

So If put together in a cluster and at full power your CCT is about 4000K

And your adjustment range is 3000 (5000K off) to 5000K (3000k off)
Sliding from 1/2 power to full power to 1/2 power if you get what I mean..

4000K is a fairly good color for fw planted tanks.. But it is def not "crisp" (blue) white..

Color control channels are an easy addition.. but the problem lies in the strength of the Veros.

Adding 2-4 Royal blues around each cluster should boost that color temp.

but you are going to be fighting a 4000K "tone" of a very large magnitude (1 Vero is about 10 rb in watt/lumen output)
