Kink preventer - anyone?

I just set-up my filstar under the tank, and the way the hose runs, it kinks as it comes out of the filter (right at the top).

Anyone have any DIY anti-kink remedies?

TIA,

- Jeff

don't allow so much extra tubing between the filter and the pipes!

Stretched slinky maybe

Those who say it canít be done, shouldnít interfere with those who are doing it.

You can use some hose clamps at the spot of the kink.

A small piece of PVC just larger than your hose. Slip over the hose. This will give the section that wants to kink more rigidity.

I'm sure there are others, but thats the general idea.

Bailing wire, wrapped tightly around the hose for a few inches either side of the kink will usually do the trick also...

There is a sort of corrugated, split, flexible tube used to gather/control electrical cords. Depending on the size of your hose, it might work.

Try braided vinyl tubing instead of regular vinyl. I didn't like the way regular vinyl collapsed so easily. Just yesterday I tried braided vinyl for an 18" piece that has to make a tight 180 degree from my cansiter filter output to my Rex reactor input. I used braded vinyl and it does not kink at all. It cost about 2x as much as regular vinyl, but I think it's worth it.
