rimless 10g question

So I decided to try making a 10 gallon rimless tank out of a standard tank. I filled the tank with water outside and there are no leaks, I even hit the sides and corners of the tank a little bit. My dog even ran into it and it still holds. Would this mean that it would pretty much never break? The longer sides bend slightly but seem to hold well. Are there any other tests I can do to confirm that it wont break?

Also does anyone know if there is any way to gut glass with out a cutter? I want to try to shorten the height of the tank without taking the tank apart

Thanks
