Aquaponic and Rain-x

I am building an aquaponics system with an old tank and it will be humid.

Someone told me to put some Rain-X as a water repellant to be able to see better! Good idea, but it is "safe" or "toxic"....if the plant water get in contact indirectly with it in the long run? Probably need to put some Rain-X every 2-3 weeks on the front glass...

The tank w/o cover yet...in progress

Another similar product exist who look safer but more expensive and difficult to find in Canada!

I believe rain-x is a silicone

Contains ethanol and isopropyl. I would say bad stuff.

The green stuff is garbage, I had the entire line of products in my job, they all suck.

Contains alcohol as well, but everything else is plant based fats/oils.

Applying Rain-X or anything else is a physical task of cleaning the glass, then wiping on the Rain-X.

Why not just clean the glass every couple of weeks?

The coating that rainx leaves behind will make everything blurry and will just attract more dirt to the glass.
