What can I do with these? - Making some lights

I harvested these out of two old hoods that i'm no longer using. A hex 5 and 10 gallon respectively.

You can make a plywood canopy with them for a nano tank and screw so pc lights.

You can save them for ever and ever until you are so old you can't remember what they are. Or, give the away on the local Craig's list or free cycle.

Making some lights would probably be a cool DIY project. Especially for a 10G tank or a 2.5

I was figuring on making some stand alone lights for these but I finally got a rough plan down, with sketches even, that I'll post later.

First project - 10 watt supplimental for my hex 5 tank

The one from the hex 5 hood supports up to 15 watts, i'll get a 10 watt colormax bulb for that one.

The basic plan is the following

The material is probably going to be bent sheet metal, but that brings up the finish, there seems to be alot of diffrent info on this, bettween Shiney (like tinfoil or metal) and White, pros and cons on each?

put them on a dimmer to simulate sun rise and set?

otherwise, get another hobby they would work good on? Maybe a DIY lightbright?
