After a diy design for overflow box, or site

Hi there,

I am planning my 4x2x2, I am getting it drilled for standpipe and returns. I am after a DIY design for the overflow box with parts fairly easily found. Alternatively a sound Australian site the sells them at reasonable cost.

I have done my searching but to be honest I don't know if it is called an overflow box or weir or something else

any help would be great

Regards Darren

Sounds like your overflow will be internal to the tank since your having it drilled. On an external overflow box, which you would add to an undrilled tank, a weir is the compartment that the water falls into before going up over the tank wall (via siphon). Since yours will most likely be internal, you won't need an actual box, only a baffle with teeth to set the water level in the display portion of your tank.

Here's a good discussion with pictures of what I'm talking about.

You should browse around Melev's site. Lots of good info there.

Hope that helps.
