Cheap soda as yeast food - CO2

Most dollar stores I've seen carry 3L bottles of soda for $1. Anyone here using that as a sugar source? I read a post somewhere about someone just dumping their yeast into these.
I'm curious what effect the other ingredients have on the yeast.

I never knew they made 3L Soda! I'd buy it, drink it, then use the bottle for DIY yeast set-up. With 3L, that thing will probably last over a month in a small nano tank. I wouldn't risk, but if you really want to try, make sure the fauna in your tank aren't on the expensive side. Better yet, try it on a plant only tank. If you want a fun little experiment regarding DIY co2, check this out. Must be 21 and older to try.

lol I actually have that thread bookmarked and several 1.5L glass bottles sitting in my garage. I just need to get some rubber stoppers and triple riffles!
