i need help with electrics

in the image above is two ideas
the one below is how i wired 2 normal lamp fittings together ( for spiral 650k energysavers) and they turn on

how ever im concerned that this is the wrong way to wire it and the top one is how i feel it should be done theres no way for me to do the top way as where the smaller wires connect to the lamp theres no room for an extra wire leading to the 2nd lamp.

any advice is good!

Personally, I would wire them up like the top picture. However, both will work. The bottom one will just have more chances for error with the added nodes. Just be sure to isolate it well and you're fine.

the first one is a serial circuit so if one lamp fails both of them fail. the other one is a parallel circuit so if one fails the other one is still shining. i would go with the second one since it is more redundant.

make sure everything is water proof. i learn that lesson the hard way.

Both of them are actually wired in parallel. A series connection kinda makes a circular loop with the supply and other electrical elements.
