Exclamation What should I do?

Ok, so I believe my tank has finished the cycling process, and I need to decorate my tank up with plants and wood. So theres this dead bush in my backyard thats been sitting around for like a year, and I know it would look really nice in my tank. I already cut it up and it's in a box in my garage. So what I need to know is what I should do to it before I place it my tank.
Oh and just an off topic question,--How much is the cheapest water test kit I could get?

Make sure the plant is dried and not still moist inside, you don't want toxins or sap to leach into the tank. After that I would suggest soaking it in some water or boiling it to be on the safe side. This will help get rid of debre and tannins that may still be on/in the plant.
