Question DIY Co2 Reactor ?

I went to Home Depot and Lowes tonight trying to get what I needed for a co2 reactor.. I went with a list from rex's diy. I couldn't find everything I needed in 2" so I had to get 1 1/2 pvc instead. that shouldn't be a problem right? I have a 2' section of pipe.. if I make it longer will that make up for the diameter? I also couldn't find any of the elbows with the barbs on it for the filter tubing.. I just picked up straight pieces instead.. thanks for the input!

Depends on filter output. You will have to make this longer.

I have a Rena XP3.. actually 2 of them.. how long should I make it? I read somewhere on here that you can take the plastic rings from a 6 pack of pop or soda and put it inside to help break up the bubbles.. shoud I do this?

If I were you I would buy the correct size PVC..With an XP3 you want no less than 2" PVC tube. And dont use any media inside..And try to find elbows instead of straight barbs. You will run into issues with straight barbs when installing your filter tubes..Good Luck..

Orlando what would be the problem with using straight barbs?

I believe that with using one elbowed and one straight.. it keeps the filter hose inline..

I did go to ace hardware this morning and picked up the 2" pvc with all the pieces. even got the elbows there too.. so I made a whole new one.. I made the pvc tube 18" without the sleeve and T. I didn't put any media inside.

thanks again for the help!

I am going to put this together.. where the co2 goes in, is that the entrance or exit of the reactor? is the T end the exit end?

should I use a small airstone in the middle of the reactor? or just stuff the hose into it.

do I need to put silicone around the outside of the reactor where the line goes in?
