DYI Lighting.

Ok since i already bought a Current USA 20" 2x40 unit and not happy with the heat+fan solution, was thinking about makeing my own unit.

I have all the parts i need in this unit, i just need to take it apart and rebuild it.

I plan to keep the entire thing the same EXCEPT! i have one twist, i want to put a 120MM fan on top of the unit that will suck air out of the entire unit. Hell i might put 2 on top but i dout it, i think one will work pretty good.

Reason why i am thinking 120mm becuase they are silent. I have 4 of them going in my PC right now i can barely hear them.

Only thing that i see as a flaw is, the normal fan is on the side of it and directly sucks out the heat, while a top unit would suck out the heat but more passively.

Any suggestions?

Im not familiar with that light but from my experiance with computers I would say put two small fans on the ends pointing in and use the big fan in the middle for exhaust. That will prob be overkill. I would just take the fans out of the ends and just use the exhaust. The direction of flow will still suck colder air over the bulb. Hope this helps...
