BaLlAsT SiZiNg

BACKGROUND: I am in the final stages of finishing a DIY 34g AIO cube (20"x20"x20"). I need to install the lights. I'd like to use five 15 watt 18" T8 type bulbs commonly available at the big box home improvement centers. 75 total watts works out nicely for the 25g display area and the 18" bulbs will fit perfectly inside the hood.

PROBLEM: I cannot find a ballast that lists my light bulbs (F15W-T8-PL) and all the ballasts I look at are for 1, 2 or 4 bulb set-ups. Ideally I would like to use only one ballast but if I had to use two ballasts I'd opt for another bulb for a total of six bulbs and 90 watts.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, cause I'd rather not burn down the newly built home.

Thanks,
Daniel

you could odno them or run more than one balllast I haven't seen any 5 bulb ballasts. You can run two 18" bulbs together and trick the ballast into thinking its a 36". This site is a great place to find things of that nature http://www.grainger.com/

Lightbulb

I am over driving 2 of the same size bulbs right now over a 10g. I just tricked the ballast by hooking them up like one 36" bulb. I'm over driving the bubls X4 using ADVANCE ICN-4P32-SC ballast.

Here are some links that might help.

So what ballast did you end up using? Just wondering.

WorkHorse 3 driving 2 F15W-T8s and WorkHorse 6 driving 4 F15W-T8s. I remotely located the ballasts to dissipate heat and placed then on two timers to simulate sunrise/sunset. Thats 90W over a 26g display area approximately 3.5 wpg.

Thank you for all the electrical advice.
