Tinted Mirrors as Background

Has anybody made an aquarium, or seen one, the rear glass being smoky dark mirror?

I was the glass shop the other day and saw this tinted mirror. Mirrors generally are troublesome backgrounds for two reasons, it affects certain fishes like the betta stressfully, and it also shows up all the algae on it. I donít think the dark tinted mirror would do either.

If you have a choice, you have a problem, till you elect your choice. No choice, no problem, only consequences, learn to live with them.

assuming your tank is kept in a wall cabinet,
simply mirror back the compartment rear, not
the tank glass itself. that way you get the
visual benefit of a mirror, without driving
your fish crazy.

Had one, over time hard water broke down the coating on the glass that makes it a mirror. It lasted for about 5 years or so till it started breaking down.

I should add that I ran the tank as a small saltwater tank for a while which almost certainly accellerated things. Overall I wouldn't do it again.
