co2 diffusion

I have s diy co2 and as a diffuser I have a q-tip cut in half and shoved firmly in the co2 hose. The bubbles are very small. I have it so the bubbles get sucked in to the filter intake. Should I leave the filter cartridge in? Is this an effective method of diffusion?

Hi dex, that diffusing co2 method is just fine as long as you don't have any big surface agitation And the filter cartilage can remain inside with no problems..

55 gallon - Rainbowfish Dutch scape low-tech planted tank

Thanks Neon, I had the "bell" method going for a while, the gas being trapped under it, I read that this intake diffusing is more efficient.
Cheers!
