DIY Flow Meter/Valve

Has anyone made a flow valve or meter for their canister filter so that they can control the flow rate?

Using ball valves is the most common method to control the flow from the output of the filter.

You should be able to find lots of plans for this type of control valve if you do a quick search on the forums.
