New tank with lots of DIY : " CUbe "

Hi all,

I am currently setting up a new tank, it's a cube, 60x60x60 (centimeters).
It'll be an open top with a 70w MH 5200K, and used for australian fish.
I did not build the tank but all the other stuff around yes, or in the process too....

1_ the stand's frame:
Made with 40mm square steel, it's 74cm high, and 50x50 cm.
The brace on the back is moved forward to fit the 2 bulkheads coming from the tank.

2_the bulkheads:
I had to drill the tank to fit the two 43mm bulkheads

3_the sump:
For the moment it's just a drawing, and the glass is on order, I should get it by next week
It's 40x40x40 cm, it also holds the water reserve for my auto top-off system (with SS electrodes).
The filtration is done by to foam pads (large then fine), fitted vertically.
The micro filtration is done by floss wrapped around a 80mm tube containing the bio media. I choosed to use 2 of them, so I can use chemical if needed without disrupting the bio filtration. They each have a newjet 1200 pumpe fitted.

For the moment I havent finished yet, so I post the design I choosed for it
It will have a "stockman standpipe" fitted and a secondary drain (just in case).
The pipe running on the bottom is used as a water intake, the front section will be slotted and covered with 1/4 inch pebbles.
This allows the filter to take water from the top and the bottom of the tak, ensuring a good flow.

Still waiting on parts(and $$$) to finish, maybe one or two months extra.

TNX !

I just finished glueing the overflow (3 pieces of glass) and the protection teeth which are adjustable in height.

Post pics later (have to charge the cam first).
