Best way to store wine yeast
I bought 10 packets of wine yeast a couple of weeks ago to use with my Hagen Nutrafin CO2 system. I used my last activator and stabilizer packet a week ago, so the wine yeast is going to be used on the next batch. However, I noticed that there is considerably more wine yeast in a pack than there is in the Hagen Nutrafin activator pack. I know that I can just use what I need and store the rest for later. However, I do have a few questions:
1. Is it better to store the unused yeast in the fridge or freezer?
2. Can I open up all of my yeast packets, dump them into a single container and store them in a cold place, or does opening the packets somehow lessen the life of the yeast? Keeping all the yeast together will make it easier for me to scoop out the yeast whenever I make new batches.
