Hagen Co2 Peeps

Hiya,

Im gonna mix my own yeast recipe for the hagen Co2 Canister thing

- What kinda mixes are you kids using these days with your Hagen?

I tried 1/4 tsb yeast - sugar to the line and water. Might try baking soda but not sure if I put the right amout of yeast in.

Wadda ya'all think?

The more yeast you add the more c02 will be produced but it will run out faster. I switched to a 2 lt bottle with the ladder and had better results.

10 gallon hospital tank.
29 & 50 gallon - High Tech C02 enriched.
50 gallon Pond - Natural.

When I was using the Hagen System I measured out the ingrediants in the packets.

Activator = 1/8tsp Yeast (most likely Champagne Yeast)
Stabilizer = 1tsp Baking Soda

Using 1/8tsp of Champagne Yeast and 1/2tsp Baking Soda worked very well. I currently use a similar mix in my 1 liter bottles, though I've cut out the Baking Soda to get stronger reactions since the Champagne Yeast is already very good at lasting longer.

thanks purbox- I tried your recipe (with flieshman bread yeast) -

1/4 tsb yeast with no baking soda = too much for me -

Shellies just had babies so I am afraid to concentrate my Co2 at high levels - 1/8 sounds about right.

Peace
