Aquarium Rocks

hello!

this is my first time posting here, one of my friends told me about this site, i have a 75 gallon tank that i am re decorating and was wondering if i could use rocks from outside?

While i was looking at your site I saw that you mentioned a Vineger test, so I looked it up and found this: "One trick to test rocks is to put a
few drops of vineger (sp?) on it. If after a few minutes it starts to
foam, then don't use it in the tank as this is an indication that the
rock will slowly dissolve in your tank. Also avoid any rocks that
appear to have any veins of metal running through them." is that what you where referring to?

If you read my site you would have noticed I'm not a fan of the vinegar test. I believe in testing rocks with acid. But vinegar is not nearly strong enough. If you can safely drink it then it's not strong enough. Muriatic acid works much better for the test.

And any DRY, CLEAN rock that smokes or fizzes when the acid is applied should be avoided as they will mess with your water chemistry.

Well thanks anyway but I decided to go another way with re-decorating my tank
