remaking a 10g

The 10g outside has seen better days with silicone falling apart. Normally I would just buy a new 10g if that's what I wanted. I was going to break the tank down and reuse the glass and frame but make it about 5 inches shorter.

I was wondering if anyone else has redone a tank and it held up?

Edit: I just noticed the sticky.

After working on the top plastic trim for a hour I broke it and gave it the bird. I didn't think they were put on that well.
