Sump and CO2

I'm starting to plan out what I want to set up for my new tank this fall, and I would like to have a sump that I can put all of the mechanicals into. Can I diffuse the CO2 into the sump, or will all of it just bubble out when it goes through the pump?

No CO2 will be lost from the pump to the tank (since it is a closed circuit). Loss only occurs where air meets water. Agitation and splashing sheds CO2 from the water. A sump is possible, but you must keep things "smooth".

I have a 65g display tank with 29g sump under it. It's a trickle we/dry setup with bio-balls in a homemade drip setup. I inject pressurized C02 into the main tank and my C02 levels remain constant. However, I do have to inject at a higher rate to offset the loss from surface agitation in the sump.

The best place to introduce the C02 would be in-line with the return pump line to the main tank.
