Improved Algae Cleaner for Acrylic Tank

I have a 100 gallon acrylic tank and have always been looking for a better way to clean algae off the front of the tank. The latest thing I used was a Mag-Float. It worked o.k., but I have run into several problems with it.

1. It seems to take longer and longer to get the tank clean.

2. My tank has rounded inside corners on the front and the mag-float just wouldn't clean these

3. I have a sand substrate. Often, the mag float would pick up small pieces of sand that would scratch the inside of the tank.

My solution was to cut a small piece of filter floss. I then placed this over the mag-float half that goes inside the tank and used the mag-float like it was orginally intended. It now takes about 15 seconds to clean the front of my tank and I can clean the inside corners. I also don't have problems with sand anymore!

I always use an old credit card to scrape the front pane, well actually now I am using nerite snails, but that's another story.

Sean

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".
