Do you think this DIY Co2 reactor will work?

I have this whisper internal filter that is made for a very small tank. Im thinking of turning it upside down and using it as a Co2 reactor. There is a hole in the back that I think I could stuff my co2 tubing through and then stuff an algae pad inside the chamber of the filter and allow the pump to push the water, and hopefully dissolved co2 though the pad and into the tank. The filter is rated at 20 gph. I just wanted to see if anyone thinks this would work or not.

Looks like it should.
I would make one small change and add a baffle near the water inlet to disrupt the water flow.
Turbulence is definitely your friend in this situation.

Yes, it would be upside down. I will probably give this a try this up coming weekend, if I get any interesting results I'll post my findings.
