I made a CO2 reactor....

But I'm not sure I'm getting what I should out of it. I'm getting one little tiny bubble every three to five seconds, and that bubble is squeezing out between the plastic fitting and the airstone. It has been online for about 16 hours.

Is this even going to make a difference in my plants?

I have a 10 gallon tank with a hob filter, bubbles at night, and a generic bulb in the light fixture (I need to change this, I know).

DIY CO2 should do better than that. It's not going to help your plants at the current rate (well, not noticeably anyway.) I'd be willing to bet that it either isn't going full strength yet or that you've got a tiny leak.

It has been pretty cold in the house. The side of the bottle near the tank is going fine, but the rest is doing nothing. I just put a pet tank warmer under it, so let's see if that helps...But I think that particular airstone isn't helping, either.

I have one left in the airstone 3-pack. I'm going to silicone around the join and let that set, then see if it helps.

Here is what it looks like right now:

Arrow indicates the eensy weensy air bubble, now coming about every two seconds

Front view, whole thing:

Please keep in mind that this "belongs" to a nine-year-old!

Even with its own heater, the bubble rate is still not good. The foam is getting better, but the bubbles? Not so much.

Might need more yeast and sugar....

You have a leak in the connection between the bottle and the airline.

Nope--I checked. no bubbles anywhere.

I added almost a teaspoon more yeast, and a little later I'll add some sugar (I'm out at the moment for some mysterious reason). It's cookin' along pretty well, now. Got some convection action going on inside the bottle, and actual real bubbles coming from the airstone.

I am becoming pleased.
