DIY way to raise lights off tank

I was getting too much light. Solution, candle holders.

It's like looking into the sun!

J/k... that's a pretty good idea. I'd still consider hanging it, though. I used white laundry line to hang mine from the ceiling and it's barely noticeable.

I think the candle holders look really great. Good idea! I might try something like that myself

LOL, I've got some plastic cups upside down siliconed to a piece of glass that my spiral CFLS are sitting on.

Not quite as elegant as your method.

Doesn't that make it a real pain to open the glass cover? Or do you feed from the back of the tank?

Looks like a good temporary solution especially if drilling and hanging might not be an option.

I have a 1 1/2" gap that stays open for ferts and feeding. The glass was DIY too.
