Quick question regarding bulkhead

I will be using vinyl hose for my drain. My overflow came with a bulkhead that has threading instead of barbs. Will I be OK connecting the vinyl hosing to a threaded connector with a hose clamp? I've only used barb fittings in the past.

no... threading is not barbs.
Barbs are completely sealed when the teeth bite into it.
Threading are not sealed, as they go around and then terminate at the way end, so in practice the water can work though the threading and then escape because there is no termination to it.

If you still want to try that route, then i recommend u teflon tape the threading like a mofo and then you clamp it down hard.

But i have had PEX fittings leak on me b4 because they too are threaded and not barb'd.

Thanks for the quick response.
In that case, I'll either find a male adaptor that's barbed on the other end or replace it with a barbed bulkhead.
Thanks,
Marilyn
