DIY reactor/diffusion

I have built a reactor, using an internal filter/powerhead unit. I came with a sponge filter and a canister that you can fill with media. I left the sponge out and left the canister empty. Drilled a hole just big enough for the air line. The problem I am have is the "seven up" effect is bad enough that it bothers me and it is really loud. Why? Is is because the chamber is only about 4" tall and that is not enough room for the co2 to dissolve properly, it makes noise. That is my guess. Kids broke camera...but if you go to ebay and look up
Aquael AquaThrust Powerhead & Internal Filter

you will see the canister I am using.

I'm guessing that your running the powerhead in it's normal configuration, with water pulled through the filter canister, and pumped out the nozzle.

DIY reactors reverse this -- the reactor tube is affixed to the output nozzle. This style of reactor should be almost silent.

The tube is on the output.. I hear the bubbles getting turned over and over until it is forced out the bottom in small bubbles. The noise is quieter now that most of the o2 is out and mostly co2 in the reactor, but I still see almost a white cloud of tiny little bubbles. any thoughts on how to stop or lesson the number of bubbles.

This is what I observed... When I first hooked up my DIY co2, the airline must have been full of regular air. It was really loud and the bubbles didn't break up very well. It took almost 12 hrs for both the airline and reactor to completely remove the regular air and fill with just co2. Now that it is only co2 in the reactor, it is almost silent and very few bubbles escape. What does escape seem to disappear before hitting the service. Now I'm just waiting on my drop checker to arrive to see how well I'm putting co2 into the tank.

Should I have any 7up effect in my tank? I have a little, but when I watch videos of other tanks I dont see 7up effect on there tanks. I guess if my drop checker is in the green I'm ok.
