My ugly CFL hood

So after deciding that I my lighting needs were not being met I ventured out to Walmart.

I picked up this ATP XL Oil Drip pan http://www.walmart.com/ip/ATP-Extra-...p-Pan/16778234

4 26W(actual) CFL's 6500K
4 socket to outlet adapters
1 12ft multiple outlet extension cord

I cut a 6" square out of each corner and folded the whole thing into a hood. While only, 36" long it does get good coverage, also it is not pretty at all but it is getting the job done

The pictures don't do it justice, it seems so much clearer now

Hi LArifleMan,

I enjoy a good DIY project, especially a cost effective one! $13 chicken brooder lights with CFL bulbs (incandesent base) equals about $20 per light.

Thanks guys. I literally walked around for an hour and a half, trying to find something that would be not only suitable but cost effective. The dome's were $7 for the 8.5" and $11 for the 10.5"....that just wasn't going to happen.

$14 for 4 bulbs
$10 for the drip pan
$.97 ea @ 4 for the socket adapters
$7 for the 12' cord

My total came out to $42 but that's with chips and salsa.
