The Slanted Tank

This summer I decided that dorm furniture / IKEA wasn't just cutting it and a friend and I built a stand to hold my 40B terrarium / a 10G and some non-pet miscellany on top. Although we used a level, we forgot to take into account that the floor of my room is terribly not-level, and the result is about a 1-2 cm difference in water level across the tank.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how can I raise one side of my 10G (the long way) about 1cm without putting too much stress on the glass at any point? It's a cheapo petsmartco 10G. I cut a piece of wood 1cm x 10cm x 27cm or so but am worried that just sticking that under will stress the part of the tank that rests on the edge of that wood.

I'd like to avoid raising the /whole/ 10G too much, because it's next to a 2.5G that's been raised to the same height so I can connect them.

Shimming the stand would be the only way I could see to do it. Take shims and keep adding more till its raised to the level. I did it with my 125gal, but that's a lot more weight added on top of the stand so the shims go in slowly. I'm not sure with only a 10gal, if hammering the shims under are going to slosh the tank around a lot or not.

With only 10gal, you could probably drain 90% of the water and lift it and add the shims yourself.

20g platy, , 2 x 10g shrimp, 3 x 20g shrimp, 7.5g shrimp and 1 great dane/mastiff puppy.
