Diffusing co2 to tank?

I saw a previous thread where a man just put his DIY co2 straight into the filter intake and the bubbles got chopped up by the impellers. Is this an effective wAy of diffusing the co2?

Yes, I think it works pretty well. You may hear a little popping noise as the bubble hits the impeller.

I have read of people using Hagen Elite submersible filters, and I am currently using a Fluval plus submersible filter. I just drilled a small hole in the filter and pushed the airline tubing into the filter body. The impeller chops up the bubble and sends it through the tank. There are little pops, but it hasn't harmed the impeller.

I was thinking about doing this sort of method. I have an old protien skimmer and wanted to know what you guys think about using it for this. The article that has this information in it says this is an good way to get the co2 into the tank.
