tank stand height

I'm making a tank stand that will hold a 55 and a 40 breeder. what do you think the perfect height would be? i'm about 6'2 and the stand that the 55 came with is kinda low for my liking.

this stand will be attached to the wall with 2x4 legs supporting it in the back because the screws will be going through the sheet rock and needs more support. any tips for me?

I'm 6'2" as well. The stand I built for my 75g is 36" from the floor to the top of the stand. Seems to be a pretty good height. I have to bend over to look at stuff if I'm standing but it's a perfect height to sit in front of on a bar stool.

I like my eye level to be about the bottom 1/3 of the tank from were I'm view it.

My 40 is on a 32" stand that is just right for me at 6' while sitting on my couch.

i dont do too much sitting. want it to be better for me while im standing. i think it would be better that way. especially while im working on the tank and arranging plants. that way i can just step back and take a look instead of crouching.

think if i measure down from my armpit to the floor and subtract the height of the tank it would give me a good height?

Not if you don't want to crouch to look into it ... unless, of course, your anatomy is ... unusual.

I'm about 6'1" I have a 24" high tank on a stand that puts the rim of the tank right under my armpit standing on my toes, but because my armpit is somewhat lower than my eyes, I still have to bend over to look into the tank. :shrug:

36" is the perfect height, IMO.

36" sounds good for 6'2" guy.

I'm 5'6", but my 18" cube sits on a 36" stand. Great for my line of sight, but annoyingly right at the limit of my short arm length. As in I got my arm pits wet when I reached for the bottom of the back left corner while standing at the front right corner.

When I move, I'll probably change the stand to a custom 30" stand....

I built mine 32" high which is tall enough to tuck a 20lb CO2 tank into . My wife says she doesn't want the living room looking like a welding shop . . . ++bah++ . . . women . . .

Hahaha as much as we balk at the idea of our significant others restricting stuff for our hobbies, your wife does have a point Those CO2 tanks are better off tuck inside the tank stand. I know I don't want to see my small 5lb tank, unless I'm checking the regulator

the arm pit idea was more of a comprimise of makeing it somewhat easy to work on still and be able to look at it easier
