Emmersed setup

I was thinking about using 2 large sterilite tubs filled with clay something called ironite potting soil and topped with sand. And for lighting I was gunna use sun light. I was wondering if hc and dwarf hairgrass beleem was sensitive to heat cus here in texas it is around 90 but tons of sunlight. so do you guys think that this would work if grown emmersed? thanks.

What is your goal here? Why the sterilite tubs?
Sunlight is a great light source, but for most it is such high light that algae is a problem. Even emmersed there will be green scum and green water.
But maybe that is OK for you...

are you sure that there will be green scum? I used sterelite just because I had it. My main goal would be like to make this sorta like a plant bank.

Give it a try. I've got two tubs out on the deck now. Java fern in a rubber made tote tub, It's be there 3 wks. just some pea gravel in the bottom to anchor the roots. Water changes every few days. With rain or De /Clor tap water. Not isuses good growth.

#2 is a small plastic $1 Store storage box. I used MTS & some TopSpoil right from the bag capped with sand. I've got e.Belem in there. Now they are in 2" of water once they settle in(1 wk. now) I'l drop the water level.

The tubs get afternoon Sun from 2p-7P.

We've been in the high 90's for a week, them cool down to 87...LOL. The tubs are shaded by the house until afternoon. Early & late afternoon Sun is a little less intense so I'm sure that helps. Also it hits the tubs at a bit of an angle.

I picked up a PlaKat Betta today to go in the Java fern container. I sure it will have 'sketters in it soon.

So, I find a VERY nice PlaKat betta. Electric blue body, red fins, Fins outlined in blue, white tips on pectoral fins. I put him in a gt.sized bowl (6" dia) with a littlee pea gravel and some Taiwan moss. I figured I'd keep him in for day to some transition him out of the LPS water and we have some Heavy T-storms now.

I've been feeding him 'skeeter larva. Trouble is now he looks so good I don't want to turn him out into the grow out tub I like having him here at the computer desk.

How much water do you have in it? If there is enough water to have a fish I don't think it is emmersed, but under water
