De rimming a 20g long

Going to buy one tomorrow but any opinions on the best to go with and if I should cut or sand some of the glass off? Was thinking about the topfin brand at Petsmart any input is greatly appreciated

Some tanks have some pretty sharp corners on the top edges of the glass. Those need to be rounded a bit with silicon carbide paper or a sharpening stone. I wouldn't even consider trying to remove any substantial amount of glass that way though. The odds are you would crack the glass before you were finished doing it.

Could I put a very thin amount of silicone on the edges to soften it in case I have a sharp edged tank

You could, but enough silicone to soften the edge would probably just look funny, and a small enough amount to be unnoticeable probably wouldn't do much. You'll probably find plenty of silicone under the rim when you take it off in any case.

If you happen to have a dremel and diamond tipped bits, it's fairly easy to grind the edges off as well. Be sure to keep the area you're working on wet and don't use much pressure and it's done in no time.

Don't do the bottom b/c the glass will be resting on the stand instead of on the rim.
