calcic bentonite again

Hi i wonder of calcium bentonite will lower ph? my water is rich in calcium and magnesium and calcic bentonite is suposed to absrov positive ions in water, so if I use peat moss and calcic bentonite could I use it as a substrate? or perhaps add some calcic bentonite and peat moss to the tank I really want to breed crs and they are really expensive in Mexico because they are not imported anymore so to buy one you pay loads of money

Most, if not all clays absorb positive ions, but that doesn't always make the pH drop. The peat moss should lower the pH some. So, why not just use a clay based substrate, like Flourite, or Fluval Stratum, or a version of "Oil Dri"? They would probably work just as well.
