DIY Peat extract

Anyone tried to make their own peat extract with success? If so care to share the recipe?

Cheers

Use Indian Almond Leaves for real black water:
2l water + 5-7 almond leaves boil till the water is reduced till 3/4.
Put in fridge for 1 night.
fill up till you have 2 l water in the pot and reduce till 3/4.
repeat 2x more.
sift it and ready
10ml per 5-10 gal

This is what I'm going to do.

Purchase pure peat (no ferts or limestone - I got premier brand @ Home Depot. $9 US for 3.3 cubic feet - felt like 40lbs, I didnt weight it so I could be wrong). A LOT cheaper than "aquarium" peat and indian almond leaves.

Probably boil, then strain or alternatively boil in filter bag.

What mysterious alchemy is occuring in in the 3 additional reductions?

LOL! It could actually work.

Just realized the OP is from Australia, and they might not have McCormick spices there; so just to be clear this is only a joke. Was altered from a box of vanilla extract, the image popped into my head as soon as I saw the subject line.

See, that would have been a good April fools joke.

I'll have to remember this for next year.
