Fermentation bucket canister filter idea

Got back into hobby after a 5 years drought after our buying a home. I've noticed a lot of changes and such on equipment and such, ie, fluval up to 407 while I still have my 403... Brings me to my question, I have seen the superjet canister filter which seems very similar in design to an eheim classic, just with the pump being visible on top, is there any reason that a 304 stainless fermentation bucket couldn't be converted over to a canister filter, as it looks like a company has done on aliexpress, hooked up to a dc inline pump and whatever fittings need for plumbing to have a similar piece of equipment to an eheim/superjet just with controllable flow via the dc pump?
