diy lily nano tubes

Finally found the right tools to make Lily / inlet / outlet / elbow tubes for nano tanks using the 9/12 mm tubing size
i.e. the zoo med nano 10 canister filter.
A few test pieces I made today using Lees rigid tubing and heat forming.

Here is test set up with 4g cube. **note the filter is actually sitting on a 4 inch high block because eventually that filter is going on a different tank .

If you use the silicone inserts, it will appear smooth. You will not get the continuous rings that you see now.

You can get them on all popular websites. I got them for $1.50 each - 10mm and 12mm ones that are 100cm long. This was 4 years back. Price now seems to be jacked up 10 times...

Nice job on the project!

I've used the heat method to bend PVC for intakes on canister filters and just packed the PVC pipe with sand to avoid the 'ripples' or deformation of the PVC pipe and it worked great.

I've also heard of people using flour or granulated sugar packed inside the PVC to help hold the shape. Just tape the open end of the pipe closest to the end of the bend.

Its available, search for "silicone tube bending insert
"

There is 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm and 14 mm that is easily available on Amazon or ebay

10mm and 12 mm will match the requirements 90% of the canister filters.
