Question Can you join 1/2" tubing to 5/8" intake and output pieces?

I have two filters...

one has 1/2 tubing with no intake or output bars.... and i have a magnum 350 that has 5/8" intakes and output bars.. I want to use the filter with the 1/2" and use the parts from the magnum... Can i make this work? Reason is the new installation kits for it is 40$... Totally not a DIY person.. so be descriptive please... Thanks ladies and gents..

It's totally possible. All you need to do is to dip one end of the hose into boiling water for about 30 seconds until it's malleable. Next you just apply (a lot of) elbow grease and work it into the 5/8 intake. If you are unsuccessful on your first try, reboil the tubing and start again.

It's also possible to get 5/8 tubing onto a 3/4 inch barb using this method. It works!

The other option is to get some 5/8 tubing and put that on the 1/2 inch barbs with some clamps to keep it stuck on there
