6mm Ferrule with 1/4" tubing? Can it work?

Short story long. Purchased a Swagelock Regulator with 6mm OD tubing connections coming off of the solenoid valve. I was trying to put together a Cerges Reactor using 10" RO Housing unit with 1/2" ports. I was going to connect the CO2 to the reactor with a Mur-Lok Reducer T 1/4x1/2x1/2. Tonight I was trying to get the ferrules front/back from my old 6mm tubing onto my new 1/4" polyethylene tubing and that last 0.35mm is tough. That is the 1/4" tubing is ever slightly so larger than 6mm. Has anyone else had luck making this happen? Are there any tricks to getting these ferrules on? Thanks all.

Have you tried using boiling/ hot water to make the tubing more pliable and then push it over? This is typically what I do when things need to be expanded more.

Hope it helps!
